The creator

Born into a family of carpenters, Guillaume Rusé has always been passionate about the craft of working with wood. It was during a tour of duty with the French Navy that he decided to dedicate himself fully to this art form. On a trip around the Kerguelen Islands, he was captivated by the beauty of these islands and the richness of the land. In Madagascar, he was enthralled by the precious wood marquetry of the island’s artisans. It was then that he decided that it was wood and in particular marquetry (the art of inlay) that would lead him towards the beauty. On graduating from the ESSEC Business School, he then trained in marquetry and design at the Boulle School of Art and Design.
